The CCIB inaugurates a 420 square meters set in Barcelona to develop virtual and hybrid events

The Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB), managed by the French company GL events, has inaugurated a 420 square meters (sqm) set to hold virtual and hybrid events. The space, developed together with Locale Events & Soul, is open to all companies or organizations to celebrate any type of event, be it virtual congresses, shootings, recordings, interviews or audiovisual productions. The new space has already successfully hosted the first three events during the months of September and October.

The situation generated by the COVID-19 crisis has led the CCIB to adapt and seek solutions so that “clients can continue to carry out their events normally and with the latest technologies”, explains the CCIB General Manager, Marc Rodríguez. The venue has been able to hold physical events safely and following strict protocols -such as Rebuild 2020 from September 29 to October 1- but restrictions and limitations on national and international mobility have favored the emergence of new solutions. „We are looking for solutions to the needs of our clients so that they remain connected in the coming months”, continues Rodríguez. „Our job is to bring people together, physically or virtually“ and the new CCIB set allows companies to stay in contact with their teams, carry out new launches and product presentations to the public anywhere in the world, organize virtual congresses or any audiovisual production.

The new space is made up of a physical set and an annex chroma set, equipped with all the technical equipment and personnel necessary to carry out any creative proposal, in a blended or 100% digital format. In addition, it has all the technical means to enrich audiovisual content: augmented reality, 3D graphics, gamification, holographic solutions…

The CCIB has a strict protocol with all prevention and safety measures adapted to the indications set by the authorities, such as the use of a mask, cleaning hands, social distances, large rooms, temperature controls, constant disinfection, room ventilation… Following the protocols and safety distances of each moment, the scenography and chroma area provides a capacity of up to 11 people, a technical control area, the possibility of an audience for 24 people and a terrace of 316 m² with capacity for 68 people.

Physical events, the key to recovery

The General Manager quotes that „the CCIB teams continue to work on scheduled congresses and conventions and attracting new ones for the future“, since – he insists – „they will be the key to recovery“ and a „boost to the economic activity of the city and our surroundings”. „The physical congresses will continue and an example is that clients are already scheduling new face-to-face events on the dates that a more favorable situation is expected“, says Rodríguez.
