The new appointment will see Jeannie take an integral role in maintaining focus and growth at the alliance, which represents 12 of the finest convention bureaus across the globe. With over seven years’ experience at SECB, Jeannie will bring a wealth of industry knowledge, understanding and leadership to the role.

As head of the Conventions, Meetings and Incentive Travel division of SECB, Jeannie spearheads plans to attract quality associations and corporate driven events to Singapore to solidify its position as a top business and MICE destination.

Jeannie steps into the role of board chair at an exciting time, as the alliance prepares for its third annual BestCities Global Forum, taking place in Bogotá this December, and its second year running the Incredible Impacts Grant Programme, in partnership with ICCA.

She will chair the board which is comprised of herself and senior representatives from the other eleven BestCities destinations – Berlin, Bogotá, Cape Town, Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Dubai, Houston, Madrid, Melbourne, Tokyo, and Vancouver. With less than a week to go before Jeannie officially steps into the role, she said: “I am honored to take up the appointment of Board Chair on behalf of the Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau.

“The BestCities Global Alliance has been instrumental in shaping important strategies and best practices on how partners can best evolve and transform, to keep up with shifting trends in the meetings industry and create impactful delegate experiences. Through its established network, the Alliance has also profiled the strengths of its members to association meeting planners. “We look forward to more meaningful exchanges at the Global Forum – a key platform for the Alliance to engage decision-makers – later in Bogota this year.”

Paul Vallee, Managing Director of BestCities Global Alliance said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Jeannie Lim as our new board chair, taking over the position from Jonas Wilstrup. During his two years, Jonas was an excellent asset to our partnership and a real driving force for successful change in the organization. We can’t thank him enough for his support and time during his tenure.”

“Looking ahead to the next two years, there are many amazing opportunities in the calendar where Jeannie will play a key part.  With her superb experience at the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau, we’re excited to see what Jeannie will bring to the role and the prospective advancements she may make for the alliance.”
